“Painting for me is like breathing, I have to do it. My favorite thing is taking everything I’m feeling or thinking, whether good or bad, and putting that on the canvas. Every painting starts with a story, a memory, or a feeling, and then I start covering it up with different colors. I derive a lot of my inspiration for vibrant, bold colors from the natural landscapes and vibrant cities of my home state of Florida. Layer by layer, I build up the painting until what was originally written on the canvas has been completely transformed into a beautiful, colorful piece that brings joy to anyone who views it.”

ABOUT KAYLA MOFFATT
Kayla Moffatt is an intuitive, abstract painter from Ocala, Florida. Specializing in creating unique, colorful large-scale abstract paintings. Inspired by local Florida landscapes and cities, she creates vibrant abstract paintings using her own unique brand of mark-making and layering techniques. Since 2019, she has developed her unique style leading to commissions from all over the state of Florida and being selected for local gallery shows, such as The Best of the Best 2021 at The Brick Gallery. She has also been selected to be the feature cover artist for Ormond Magazine’s July/August issue.
